When should I have my first prenatal check-up?
You should book your first pregnancy check-up between 6 to 8 weeks after your last period. Early consultations help monitor your baby’s development and ensure a healthy pregnancy from the start.
How can I calculate my due date?
Your estimated due date is calculated based on the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). An ultrasound is often done in early pregnancy to confirm it more accurately.
What symptoms are normal in early pregnancy?
Mild nausea, fatigue, breast tenderness, and mood swings are common. But if you experience heavy bleeding or severe pain, consult your doctor immediately.
What foods should I avoid during pregnancy?
Avoid raw or undercooked meat, unpasteurized dairy, certain seafood (high in mercury), and excessive caffeine. Dr. Smita will give you a complete diet guide during your visit.
Can I exercise during pregnancy?
Yes, in most cases. Walking, prenatal yoga, and light workouts are encouraged. However, always consult your obstetrician before starting or continuing any routine.
Is it safe to travel during pregnancy?
Traveling is generally safe until 32–34 weeks of pregnancy, provided there are no complications. Always check with your doctor, especially before air travel or long journeys.
What is a high-risk pregnancy?
A high-risk pregnancy involves conditions like hypertension, diabetes, thyroid issues, advanced maternal age, twins, or previous complications. Our center specializes in managing such pregnancies with extra care.
What are the signs of labor starting?
Frequent contractions, lower back pain, a ‘bloody show,’ or water breaking may indicate the onset of labor. If you notice these signs, contact the hospital immediately.
Can I have a normal delivery after a C-section?
Many women are candidates for Vaginal Birth After Caesarean (VBAC). The possibility depends on the type of previous incision and current pregnancy health. Dr. Smita will assess your case personally.
How soon can I try to get pregnant after a miscarriage?
This varies. Some women can safely try again after 1–3 months, depending on emotional readiness and physical recovery. Dr. Smita will guide you on when it’s best to plan again.
Are mood swings and anxiety normal in pregnancy?
Yes, hormonal changes can affect mood. But if you feel persistently low or anxious, don’t hesitate to seek help. Our clinic also supports maternal mental health during pregnancy.
